56,000 items raised in SOUPER BOWL Challenge
Thanks to you, Queen Anne, QAUMC was able to raise in food and cash 441 items for the Queen Anne Food Bank at Sacred Heart. Combined with out gifts, the PNWUMC raised over 56,000 items for our local food banks – in one week.
Two weeks before the Super Bowl, a United Methodist pastor in Denver challenged congregations in Seattle to a food drive contest – a Souper Bowl. Who would win? Denver or Seattle? The Seahawks definitely defeated the Broncos, but Denver collected more food. Denver brought in over 100,000 items for their area food banks. Thanks to the good people of Denver and Seattle, many of our neighbors are eating well. And, in this case, we think no one is a loser. Everyone wins when neighbors have enough to eat.
Special thanks you shout outs go to Little Red Wagon Preschool, which brought sacks and sacks of food, and to Boy Scout Troop 70, which brought and sorted food as well as taking it down to the food bank. As always, thank you to the good people at the Queen Anne Food Bank.
