Little Red Wagon provides children ages 2-5 opportunities to grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually in a warm, loving environment.

Pastor Katie M. Ladd serves as chaplain to the children, leading chapel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Each chapel service includes a call to worship, a song, a story or lesson, and a prayer. Children learn about the church year, people from the Bible, what happens during worship, values like inclusivity and caring for God’s world, and they explore their own spiritual lives. Children are invited to think about the world around them and to engage in acts of charity and compassion, including participating in and learning about mission focus areas of the congregation. Each chapel service is designed to be accessible to children ages 2-5.

Children are welcome to worship in community on  Sunday mornings. Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me.” Wandering toddlers and kids sitting on the floor playing quietly are most welcome. We provide activity sheets for older children and younger youth. And, for when parents need a quiet space with children, we offer a family room with simple activities for children to occupy them while their parents can still listen and participate in worship. The family room comes complete with changing table, toys, and a large window to view the service.

Programming: Children ages preschool through elementary are invited to participate in a children’s program concurrent with worship. Held downstairs in the fellowship hall and adjacent classrooms, children’s educators teach children a lesson related to the worship service, lead the children in an activity or project, pray and sing with them, and allow some time for free play. Because children typically begin the service upstairs and return for Holy Communion, program time is usually about 30-40 minutes.
